How to remove the Privacy Center virus on Vista

When your computer restarts Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and goto the applications tab.

Select Privacy Center and click “End Task”

Then click on the File menu and select “New Task (Run…)”

Type Explorer.exe and press Return.

Then goto Control Panel -> Programs and Features

Find Privacy Center in the list and click Uninstall.  This will also remove any changes to the system registry.

Once Privacy Center has been removed, Click on My computer and search for Privacy Center.  From here you can delete all the shortcuts the program installed.

You can now restart your computer normally.

    Thanks for that… Searched the web and found your post. So far so good. It allowed me to get back into my computer and successfully removed the bloody virus…. - not sure if there are any other back-up files I need to remove. but thanks. Sure you’ve saved me a lot of time and money downloading all kinds of spyware.

    Thanks very much. It really worked.
    I got into the control panel, through the IE, and uninstalled Pcenter.
    I received the virus as an update for the Flash Player.
    The file name was ‘Flash Player Installer.exe
